I’ve been in this alternative careers game for over 10 years - I’ve seen the trends, and now I’ll share with you where I think the BIGGEST opportunities are for doctors next year if you’re in need of inspiration..
Health Consulting - you don’t need a job to get started. You just need to learn how to sell yourself - this is relevant in ANY sector including healthtech! Want an easy way to get started? See Paid Surveys below!
Sector value in 2024 - £30.5 billion. Compound annual growth rate (CAGR) - 9.5%
Education (EdTech) - Sell your expertise - in ANY subject, in the form of training / a course. The nicher the better. There are plenty of platforms you can use to help you achieve this. We recently ran a Masterclass on how to run your own education business side hustle as a doctor for the Doctors in Industry Fellowship.
Sector value in 2025 - £404 billion. CAGR - 16.3%
Preventative Medicine - So many doctors are leaning towards this (e.g Lifestyle Medicine) - prevention is always better than cure. And there IS a HUGE value to this! I am a total advocate for this practice if we are to sustain our healthcare system.
Sector value by 2033 - $886.5 billion. CAGR - 8.4%
Corporate Wellness - If you position your healthcare services to the right client with deep pockets, this could be a fantastic revenue stream for you. It can also be just you offering health & nutrition coaching, which we see MANY doctors do.
Sector value by 2032 - $102.5 billion. CAGR - 5.8%
Oh, and let’s not forget Pharma. It’s definitely not going anywhere, but I didn’t include it in this list because it’s becoming incredibly competitive for doctors right now.
