In reviewing applications for our Doctors in Industry Fellowship - it’s apparent that most struggle with being clear on what they want to do.
This is a huge barrier to success and manifests in most of us as procrastination. ie. Putting changing careers off for.. YEARS!
So I reflected - what are the top 3 things I’d do differently if I changed careers again.
Know myself WAY better - to help me focus on my passions and make better choices. Avoiding herd mentality.
Get career / life / business coaching & therapy WAY EARLIER (see new podcast Ep below!)
Spend MOST of my time with others doing what I wanted to do - to accelerate the journey & open opportunities
The last is one of the most important.
This is why most doctors take at least 5 years before they make a move.
They spend too much time in public sector institutions (eg NHS) with others who actively discourage them from leaving. Hence it’s too easy to get caught up in a certain mindset which blocks a timely move and tolerates what is.
And this is why I started Medic Footprints in 2014.
