š¶ Radiosilence & tumbleweed on your reach outs for alternative careers?
How do you move forward?
Hello !
Welcome to your monthly long-form round-up.
Heads up: You need to skim read this, then get some chocolate eggs, then take a bit more time to read through, reflect, participate in the polls, browse some of the links and SHARE this newsletter with a friend who needs it!
Happy Easter and thank you to everyone who wrote back to me after the last post I wrote.
Itās great to hear from you and I appreciate you recognise how Iām changing things up and giving you more of āmeā in the content we offer.
So before I serve this monthās round-up - I just jumped off a podcast interview with Dr. Catherine Hyatt - GP and Clinical Content Lead for Dermatica.
We discussed how she managed to get one of her first writing gigs with Red magazine and how she was offered a job after āReaching outā.
She made it sound so simple and straight forward.
When I asked her about the details - turns out it wasnāt straight forward at all.
She spent hours scouring email addresses, sent emails to multiple people, and got back a lot of radio silence and tumbleweed.
She reflected that the only reason she got the job was mainly pure luck as she emailed when their previous Content writer was just about to leave.
Iām sure it was more than that - but what I took from that story was - she didnāt have to apply for a job to get it.
It also didnāt take 1 simple email to get it either.
She simply positioned herself and increased the chances of her luck by doing the outreach herself and being persistent.
Check out her lucky āwinningā email here:
So for those of you reaching out to get your job opportunities - radio silence and tumbleweed is totally normal.
Even I sent out a bunch of emails this week inviting partnerships for our Doctors in Industry Incubator.
Zero responses. Normal.
Just keep at it. Or - use ways to back door the hell out of it through your network and connections.
Persistence is whatāll get you there. (& some creativity!)

š” Doctors in Industry Incubator Insights
From our How to get into Pharma Masterclass for the Doctors in Industry Incubator
This 12 month flexible program is for doctors who want to consciously learn the skills required to move to industry over 7x faster.
Weāre talking sustainably, 6 figure incomes, leadership focused and learning to build their own structure and framework to do so for the rest of their career.
We launched last month which is a BIG WIN for our team and the community, with an acceptance rate of 29%.
Most doctors who applied really struggle with clarity and focus in their approach and messaging to move to industry. This is extremely common amongst doctors.
Once this is addressed, quite a lot of other structures around building a career in industry will fall in line much more easily.
Unfortunately most doctors still lack insight into how important this is and directly affects their chances of success.
Our first Masterclass was the most important one by far: How to Sell Yourself to get the Opportunity you Want (available to MF Premium and Incubator Members only). Some may think itās basic, but like Medicine, you really need to work on your Foundation before you can confidently go out to market.
If you want to address your skills gap, create a solid foundation for your move to industry, and get there 7-10 x faster than your colleagues, then I invite you to learn more about the Doctors in Industry Incubator and apply.
šļø Newsworthy mentions
āThe worst everā Doctors strike - coming this week from Tuesday to Saturday in the UK.
Will the government listen? Unlikely. Public sector doctors have taken a MASSIVE pay cut over the years, but this is not the only reason why theyāre striking. The working conditions in general have been awful, resulting in suicide, PTSD, mental and physical health issues and more.
I wholeheartedly support this strike, and also particularly concerned about the impact this has on doctors that arenāt striking - ie. non-Junior doctors or non-BMA members. What will be the endpoint of this?

Itās not always easy getting people booked in, as by nature, theyāre busy. So, we do our own form of chasing, chasing, chasing..
Dr. Ally Jaffee - Founder of Nutritank. Currently on Month 4 of reach outs - she has responded positively, but itās getting her to book in thats the challenge.

Remember, we release our recordings immediately to MF Premium and Incubator fellows - sometimes MONTHS before theyāre published widely.

š£ļø MF Approved Career Coach Corner
I caught up with Dr. Tim Ojo for the first time in a LOONG time the other day. He was ultra passionate about running our upcoming masterclass on Answer Intelligence for Non-Clinical job interviews.
Tim has been a long time supporter of Medic Footprints and has a great diverse career himself as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
Oh, and of course, heās an awesome Career Coach, Mentor and Trainer.
š Our Wins
ā Doctors in Industry Incubator soft launched with 5 doctors confirmed
š«µ We recruited 3 new team members this last quarter and weāre currently formally hiring a Strategic Growth Officer, and in talks with 2 others to join us (the back door way..!)
Lauretta Ihonor - as our Podcast Strategist (ex doctor, ex Flo Health, master at many things)
TiarnƔn McKeever - as our Digital Growth Lead (also a social media savvy Medical Student!)
Lean May Dizor - as one of our Team Admins (she actually returned to us after a break for 2 yrs.. weāre really excited to have her back!)
š¶ Our Challenges
Time - my philosophy is to work a 3 day week, and all of our team members work no more than 4 days a week. I havenāt really achieved the perfect 3 day week. I say this on an Easter Sunday typing furiously at my in-laws place, whilst my kids and hubbies are off to church.
Getting sh*t done - ties into the above. Things do get done - but usually after being pushed back, more reactive than Iād like, and massively imperfect. Somehow it gets pulled off, and nobody notices the cracks as much as we do.
Exploring partnerships with banks for money & finance education for doctors moving to industry - Tumbleweed
Shorts - not the pants kind. The video done in less than 60 seconds kind. Our new Digital Growth Lead, TiarnĆ”n wants them. I was held back because I didnāt want to do them without any makeup on as I otherwise look awful. I have since done all without makeup, and even a few when Iād just stepped out the shower. Just to get them done. Now thatās commitment!
š Offer of the month
I LOVE doing 1-1 mentorship we offer as part of our Premium services.
I can see the real LIVE value we bring doctors in the community to help them move forward in their career change.
However I recognise that some doctors can be held back by the price for many reasons.
Weāre therefore temporarily offering a monthly subscription option for our MF Premium membership. If this is for you - donāt hesitate to sign up so we can help you gain clarity and move forward.
Wondering about the difference between MF Premium and the Incubator?
MF Premium is like a Diploma version of changing careers. Itās for anyone wanting to build an alternative career they love. Anyone can join.
The Doctors in Industry Incubator is like a Masters / MBA version of moving to industry. We go MUCH deeper - professionalising the move to help doctors build their own structure and framework in moving to, and thriving in industry as leaders with 6 figure + incomes. This is application only.
šš¾ What we need help on

Wow - you got to the bottom! Congratulations!!
Thanks so much for your time today - I really appreciate it.
Warm wishes
