What Doctors Are Saying to Land Clients
The £40k mistake you might be making
When I first left clinical practice, I made the mistake so many doctors make:
I introduced myself by title.
“I’m a Consultant Occupational Health Physician.”
It was accurate. Professional. Respectable.
But it didn’t open doors. It didn’t spark real interest. And it didn’t show how I could actually help an organisation.
It wasn’t until I changed how I positioned myself that things started to change.
I began saying things like:
👉🏽 “I help companies reduce burnout through systems-led health strategy.”
👉🏽 “I bridge the gap between clinical insight and commercial outcomes.”
Same background. Same experience. But a very different response.
Here’s what I want you to know:
Your title isn’t your value.
You’re not “just a doctor.” You’re a leader, problem-solver, strategist but no one will see that unless you spell it out.Messaging matters more than you think.
This is about translating what you do into something industry understands and wants to pay for.
And please… if your headline says: “Doctor seeking new opportunities”
You’re doing yourself a disservice.
👇🏽 What to say instead? Try this:
“I help X solve Y through Z.”
Real examples from our community:
✅ “I help medtech companies design safer patient pathways using 10 years of frontline experience.”
✅ “I advise startups on bringing evidence-based mental health tools to market.”
✅ “I lead commercial health strategy grounded in clinical insight.”
