🫣Why I Quit Clinical... & BIG NHS Changes Ahead

PLUS my thoughts on how the NHS England MASSIVE cuts will affect doctors

Hello!

What a week—it was full-on, but here’s the thing…

My Week at a Glance:

Monday – Full-day coaching workshop for entrepreneurs.

Tuesday – Planning & brand audit for a Fellow.

Wednesday – Business coaching, mentoring, group coaching for 14 Fellows.

Thursday – Gymnastics with my 2-year-old, mentoring, strategy calls.

Friday – Childcare drop-off, strategy calls, multiple Fellow enrollments

What did you notice here?

✅ ZERO clinical work.

✅ LOTS of time with doctors.

✅ TIME for my own growth & family.

For the first time ever (outside of maternity leave), I’ve stepped back from clinical work—because the transformational work I do with doctors?

I love it. And they love it too.

Now, I’m all in—helping doctors become high-value industry experts and leaders. Scaling impact. Creating freedom. Doing what I 100% love.

(As an Occupational Health Physician however, working as a non-clinician is actually not that uncommon.. we do a lot of health consulting work in companies!)

NHS England Disbanding - What it Could Mean for Doctors

Big news this week—the beloved (yet somewhat aged) NHS England could be disbanded. What does this mean for doctors?

😬More Uncertainty – Another restructure, more upheaval, and no clear plan for what’s next beyond less money spent on.. anything. Hold on to your salaries as it’s unlikely they’ll change much for another few years.

✏️ More Admin - with fewer admin staff.. this is pretty obvious. Not like a significant proportion of our work isn’t already highly administrative.

🧐More Autonomy? – Could this lead to more localised decision-making—or just more bureaucracy? I would vote for the latter - and especially for doctors. I always say - you can only meaningfully influence healthcare systems like the NHS from the outside - at Exec level.

🏃🏽‍♂️More Industry Moves – Will this push even more doctors to explore opportunities outside the NHS? For those on the fence - the uncertainty may do so. I wouldn’t be surprised if the redundancies which are currently focused on admin staff, will eventually move to the more expensive clinical staff. After all, there’s a trend happening right now where doctors are being undervalued for their clinical work.

Either way..Change is DEFINITELY coming for all of us..

However - the question is—how will you navigate it?

Do you see this as an opportunity to create a career you actually have FULL control over, or

will you keep your feet planted firmly where they are?
