If there’s one thing I’ve noticed after years of coaching & mentoring doctors into industry careers, it’s this:

The gap isn’t in our skills. It’s in our confidence.

I’ve seen doctors with decades of experience hesitate to apply for a role… because they didn’t tick every box.

I’ve seen brilliant minds turn down opportunities because they felt “not ready yet”.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: readiness is a moving target. You’ll never reach a magical point where you feel completely prepared.

The irony? The people who do land the roles, launch the ventures, and get noticed aren’t the ones with perfect CVs… They’re the ones willing to step forward before they feel ready.

When I first moved into industry, I didn’t have all the answers. I made imperfect starts. I learned on the go. But action built confidence, not the other way around.
